One of BlizzCon 2026’s biggest surprises was the announcement of a brand-new Warcraft 3 campaign – titled Forsaken Kingdom – that will expand the (now-fixed) Reforged edition of the fantasy RTS classic. Moreover, Patch 3.0 is introducing massive, game-shaking changes.
Warcraft 3 Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom is divided in two parts: a Last Days of Lordaeron prologue campaign and the main campaign. In total, they’re said to add over 30 hours of new story content to the legendary RTS.
The twist is Forsaken Kingdom’s main campaign follows a “soft open-world RPG structure inspired by the beloved Rexxar campaign”. Meanwhile, Last Days of Lordaeron sticks to a linear experience across four missions.
A key addition to Warcraft 3 Reforged also comes with the accompanying Patch 3.0: Definitive Edition, a new graphics mode that “preserves readability, bold silhouettes, iconic unit identity, and stylized charm while bringing the game’s fidelity forward”. Essentially, it’s a direct answer to the criticisms of Reforged’s initial modern visuals and a cool alternative to the HD version of the original visual presentation.
This reshaped presentation defines Forsaken Kingdom’s environments, which are more vertical and feature dynamic lighting and other improvements. More importantly, the modders and map makers can use all the additions with the game’s mighty World Editor.
Patch 3.0 also introduces the Forsaken Paladin neutral hero, who comes armed “with Consecration, Righteous Fury, Sacred Aura, and Cleansing Fire” as a well-rounded addition to armies. Last but not least, the barrage of quality-of-life changes includes an expanded (and potentially meta-shaking) unit selection limit, which goes up to 24 from 12.
For a game that’s 24 years old now, Warcraft 3 Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and this new Patch 3.0 patch are quite the welcome surprise, but classics never die. If you want to see all this in action, check out its gameplay trailer below:
