Wardogs continues to draw a large audience following its Early Access launch, but players have found another issue to discuss beyond the game’s initial server problems. Blue Team, known in-game as Lonestar, has become increasingly unpopular among players, with some reportedly going out of their way to avoid being assigned to it.
At the same time, players continue to report connection problems, including error code 1147405308, even as the game recently reached a new peak of 428,666 concurrent players.
Why Are Wardogs Players Avoiding Lonestar?
Wardogs’ lets players choose from one of three factions when they join a match: Lonestar (Blue), Valkyra (Red) and Manticore (Green). However, this three-team structure has created an unusual problem for Bulkhead as Blue Team has developed a reputation among players for being the weaker side, with some players outright refusing to join it.
The issue has become visible during team selection, where players have reported that they’d rather wait than join Blue when Red and Green are already full. Community posts have also shown that the problem dates back to the game’s beta testing rather than appearing recently.
The thing is, there’s no confirmed evidence that Blue Team has inherently weaker equipment or statistics, given that all players on all teams can create their own loadout rather than a faction-specific one. Instead, the problem looks to be driven by player perception and behavior, as Lonestar has managed to get a reputation as the team for new players. This in turn is leading to experienced players consistently avoiding Blue, thereby reinforcing the reputation that it performs poorly.
Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer has addressed the discussion around team selection on X, with players responding with stories about their own Lonestar experiences. These include quite a few comments about how Blue tends to mostly include solo players doing their own thing, rather than actual team players. Others have suggested that Bulkhead randomize team selection, although no one at the studio has commented on this as of the time of writing.
Wardogs Is Still Struggling With Servers
The Blue Team discussion comes as Wardogs continues to experience reports of online connectivity problems. Players have continued to encounter the “Failed to authenticate with online services” message alongside error code 1147405308. Community reports establish that the code has been associated with failed authentication, although there isn’t a single officially confirmed explanation for every instance of the error.
The continued reports are notable given how much demand Wardogs has generated. Rather than struggling to attract players, Bulkhead is dealing with the opposite problem: a player base large enough to put significant pressure on its online infrastructure.
The game recently reached 428,666 concurrent players, according to Steam DB, setting another peak shortly after its Early Access release. Brammer responded to the latest influx of players and subsequent server issues on X, with:
“We are working at an unsustainable pace. We fixed the server issues through the night because these people had put a lot of money into building their communities and we benefit from that.”
For Bulkhead, the next challenge is therefore less about getting people interested in Wardogs and more about keeping them playing. While the Blue Team issue is a quirk of the game being a live service title with thousands of players, the adjacent server issue is affecting many of those same players. It doesn’t look like either issue is going away entirely just yet, either. As for the game’s availability, Wardogs is on PC via Steam.
