In Wardogs, towers aren't just handy locations to gain the high ground, they're vital parts of every map and can help each faction to win. However, while all towers are useful recon locations, it’s important to note that only the ones inside the active Control Zone function as objectives.
Towers and the Control Zone
The Control Zone is always a randomized 2x2 km section on the map. Every 30 seconds, the team with the most players in the Control Zone earns one point, and the first team to 100 wins. While each map’s Control Zone regularly changes position between matches, towers can always be found in the same places on each map. As of the current game build, Bakurani has seven towers and four abandoned ones; Ozeti has four towers. The third revealed map, Zestafona, isn’t playable yet and so it’s unknown how many towers it will have.
How to Capture a Tower
Capturing a tower means reaching the control panel found inside it.
- Eliminate any enemy players currently occupying the tower.
- Wait out the brief cooldown the control panel goes through once they are cleared.
- Interact with the control panel to capture the tower.
What Capturing Towers Gets You
Controlling towers isn’t essential to winning, but it can shift the tide in your team’s favor. Each captured tower in a Control Zone gives you a number - collect all these and you can input them at the main tower your faction controls (indicated on the in-game map by a square the same color as your faction). To mark a tower as the main one, you’ll need to build an FOB (Forward Operating Base) there, and the numbers collected from other captured towers go into this.
The faction that manages to do this will then start to pull the Hot Zone - a yellow, constantly moving circle inside the Control Zone - towards their main tower. Actions completed inside the Hot Zone (whether it’s killing an enemy or helping a teammate) earn double cash. Plus, each team member counts as two as long as they’re inside it, meaning Control Zone points can be doubled for that team every 30 seconds.
Fortifying a Tower You Hold
As for towers, these can be fortified by a team by building defenses such as sandbag walls and mini-bunkers. However, keep in mind that an enemy faction can still get past these with the right weapon. It’s also possible to commandeer the tannoy at the top of a captured tower, which allows players to shout whatever they want across the nearby area (such as calling for reinforcements, yelling at enemies, or broadcasting whatever sound they send through their microphone).
