Turbine is ready to bring the MMO to the Xbox 360 console according to sources, with the technology behind it having already been tested.
The problem is that Microsoft don’t approve of the developers free-to-play model continued the insider, but the corporate giant is close to finishing an MMO service for Xbox Live apparently.
”…Turbine is currently eyeing their MMO, Lord of the Rings: Online, for an Xbox 360 release,” reports Destructoid, citing a ”reliable source” on the matter.
The question that arises for MMO play over Xbox Live is what happens with Gold and Silver subscriptions? Gold members already pay to use multiplayer over Live so does that mean it would cover an MMO title too?
When contacted, Turbine state it’s ”factually incorrect” that their ready to launch a console MMO at the flip of a switch. Looks like we’ll have to leave this rumour to stew for a while.
