Eric Lempel, director of PSN operations, has posted the upcoming v2.70 firmware update for PS3 will ”enhance your connected experience”.
It introduces Text Chat, so users can blab away with up to 15 friends over PSN and even while in games across three chat rooms. You can now backup downloaded video too.
”The 2.70 update brings a new Text Chat feature that enables you to communicate online with your PlayStation Network friend,” posts Lempel on the US PlayStation.Blog.
”Now, you’ll be able to chat with up to 15 online friends using the Wireless Keypad, on-screen keyboard, or other compatible keyboard peripherals.”
They’ll also let you sort your friends list by their online status, and are also increasing the size of files you can attach to messages from 1Mb to 3Mb. See the clip below for Sony’s preview of the upcoming v2.70 firmware update.
