Wedbush Morgan’s analyst Michael Pachter has labelled MMO gamers as ”addicts,” and that job losses only help to fuel the online market.
With the economic downturn all around, MMOs don’t ”get impacted at all” thanks to the gamers who just can’t say no. Did Blizzard have a dastardly hand in the credit crunch?!
”I don’t think (online multiplayer games) get impacted at all, because people who play them are addicts,” said Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Morgan reports Reuters. ”Losing their jobs makes them more likely to play because they have more time to play.”
One nation this is entirely true for is South Korea, which saw a huge explosion of MMO popularity after the millennium thanks to the armies of young guys unemployed.
Are you an MMO addict? Can you quit at any time but you just don’t want to, right?
