Publisher NCsoft has very good reason to be chuffed as the newly released MMO Aion, here in the west, has soared profits 836 percent.
Aion has almost reached 1 million sales when combining North America and Europe. It had 400k preorders before going fully live.
It’s sold more than 500,000 copies in North America while Europe is just behind with 470,000.
”Aion’s popularity propelled NCsoft to another quarter of triple-digit year-over-year gains. The Korean publisher reported revenues today that were up 112 percent to KRW166 billion ($142 million),” reports GameSpot.
During the July-September period, net income exploded to KRW46.9 billion ($40 million), which is a massive 836 percent year-over-year increase. It’s still the Korean homeland that makes up the lergest contribution to NCsoft revenue, accounting for 48 percent.
Aion made up for 52 percent of territory sales with Lineage II at 24 percent, the second most promising MMO title despite its age. Even the original Lineage managed 16 percent. Have you tried the new Aion from NCsoft? Check out the launch trailer.
