One of the revolutionary additions to the upcoming Apocrypha expansion is wormholes that allow far greater and random space exploration.
Another area to get special attention now is narcotics trafficking. Boosters enhance player abilities but are highly illegal in-game - CCP plans to help reenergize the would-be drug lords.
”Hate them or love them, they’re a part of these strange worlds we all inhabit, both the one we wake up to, and the one we log in to,” reads the CCP dev blog on ‘enhancer’ drugs.
”When it comes to EVE Online, boosters can rear their head in all sorts of interesting places. From Serpentis booster busts to players pioneering booster manufacture, they are one stream in the darker undercurrent that exists in the world of characters and ideas we have created together…and in the actual game we all play.”
They go into detail at how the current system works for corporations to set up manufacturing of these boosters and how difficult it can be to smuggle them into high security zones which greatly deters players from setting up in this ‘business sector’.
”…we do feel things could be a little bit more accessible and certainly more engaging for those with an interest in booster production.”
”We don’t want to open the floodgates and make it easy for everyone to become a pill-pushing Space Pimp overnight. Rather, we want to encourage the gameplay and the industry around it to grow,” explains the dev.
