Kinetic Games says that it’s releasing its most significant update yet for Phasmophobia in June, but what does the Chronicle add and change?
The Chronicle update is going to overhaul evidence collection with three new evidence types and a three-tiered Sound Recorder, which will allow players to gather sound evidence and earn XP and cash rewards from recordings captured by the Spirit Box and Parabolic Microphone. We will also see a completely redesigned Journal, reworked levelling and progression, a refreshed Main Menu UI, and many eerie surprises Kinetic wants players to find.
Phasmophobia Chronicle Update Release Date - Latest News
The Phasmophobia Chronicle Update will be released on June 24 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Sound evidence is going to play a significant role in the Chronicle Update, with a new haunting paranormal proof type captured through the new Sound Recorder equipment. Available in three upgrade tiers (T1, T2, and T3), this new equipment unlocks deeper layers of audio detection, as players will be able to record audio from ghost events, Spirit Box responses, and Paranormal Sounds using the Parabolic Microphone. All of this will add to your XP and rewards multiplier at the end of investigations.
It’s been a long time since we’ve had any changes to the Evidense Journal, but with the Chronicle Update, it’s going to receive an overhaul. A brand new Media tab will replace the photos tab, allowing you to organise all captured proof into three sections - Photos, Videos, and the new Sound Recordings. There will be new paranormal moments to capture, from EMF spikes to ghostly interactions and fleeting glimpses of otherworldly forms.
Redesigned Evidence System
The first evidence capture of any media type will be marked as “Unique”, granting extra cash and XP rewards at the end of each contract. Players will be able to capture media twice, but it will be tagged as a “Duplicate”, offering less XP and rewards each time. The new system will also add tier bonuses based on the equipment used and add all media captures into the Reward Multiplier, making every shot, sound, and sight count even more toward players’ final payouts.
There will also be a reworked levelling and progression system, and a brand-new Main Menu UI. We haven’t been able to see this yet, so we can’t say too much more about it, but hopefully we will be able to bring you more updates on this soon.
Kinetic Games followed up with a short update on the Grafton Farmhouse, which follows up from the previously updated Bleasdale Farmhouse.
“Grafton, an abandoned, crumbling home, will soon feature updated visuals, redesigned layouts, re-themed rooms, and a haunting new attic. The revamped Grafton Farmhouse arrives after Chronicle—stay tuned for release details!”
Phasmophobia is available on PC via Steam, PS5, PS VR2 and Xbox Series X/S priced at $19.99/£16.75/€19.50.
