Blizz COO Paul Sams has revealed they plan on releasing a game this year but drops no hints to what it could be during the conference call.
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is a front line game and likely the closest to being finished, while Diablo III seems way off. Could team Blizz have another project up their sleeve?
Sams teases that ”Blizzard intends on delivering one front line release per year.” Whatever this game is they intend on staying Secret Squirrel about it, but they have included it in their 2009 fiscal forecast. ”Which title is being released this year, we’re not saying.”
Diablo III is still a long way off but StarCraft II’s first offering, Wings of Liberty, does seem the likely candidate for release given that the game is split in three parts.
It’s doubtful another World of Warcraft expansion will suddenly appear before December, especially after the Lich King leap. I guess we’ll have to twiddle our thumbs and wait…
