Developers with a creative flare could end up being awarded a GBP 10,000 grant to work on their digital project for the PlayStation Network, during a pitch event in October.
For three days SCEE will host the pitch-athon, working in partnership with Pixel-Lab and Northwest Vision. Two of last year’s pitch winners are under consideration by Sony teams.
”It was reassuring to see a commitment of public funding like this from Northwest Vision & Media and it’s clearly helped the teams involved strengthen their skills in many areas,” said XDev Studio Europe’s Phil Gaskell.
Not only do teams land the chance for mentoring from SCEE, but really great ideas could be pushed further up the chain to XDev Studio Europe for development. ”I’m confident we’ll be taking some of the ideas generated through this initiative to market,” Gaskell added.
”We were really pleased with the final quality of the pitches last year, the teams had made huge leaps in terms of understanding the commissioning process, their audiences, and what was expected of them,” commented Pixel-Lab’s Toby Barnes. ”We are really looking forward to this year’s new entrants and are expecting the bar to be even higher.”
Feel you’ve got a creative spurt worth £10,000? Sony Computer Entertainment Europe could be cutting you a cheque… it could even end up of the PlayStation Store one day.
