Whilst accepting a BAFTA award for Call of Duty 4, Infinity Ward's Rob Bowling revealed the sizzling "unique" player figures for Xbox Live and PSN.
It's clear Modern Warfare leads on the Xbox 360 with over 11 million, while the PS3 chimes in with 4 million. All gamers were tracked, either playing on or offline provided they logged in.
"I'm delighted that we just reached 11 million unique players on Xbox Live and we've got over 4 million on PSN," said Bowling. Microsoft report over 17 million Xbox Live users with estimates that around 9.5 million are paying Gold subscribers.
These figures don't include Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers that don't connect to their respective networks or PC gamers at all - and the 11m and 4m only refer to Call of Duty 4 and not any other title in the franchise.
It seems you really earned those three BAFTA awards guys with the game picking up Gameplay, Story and Character and the GAME Award of 2008.
