Audio amusement shall soon be nestled in with Microsoft’s MSN, with plans for their streaming and download service to launch at the end of this month.
MSN’s Peter Bale has said it uses a ”similar principle to Spotify”, but they’re hammering out the specifics still. It’s to help boost Microsoft’s Zune player, and possibly the Xbox 360?
”It will be a similar principle to Spotify but we are still examining how the business model will work,” Bale told The Telegraph. ”Music is an important area for Microsoft. We are looking at launching a music streaming service imminently.”
Spotify uses a combination of free but ad supported streamed music, or a premium fixed subscription to enjoy tracks without a minute long advertisement every half hour.
”We are looking at how other similar businesses have structured their business models and trying to figure out what will work best for both consumer and Microsoft,” he added.
Microsoft announced at E3 that the Xbox 360 will be incorporating last.fm radio, which could be executives testing the waters with 360 gamers.
