"Previously, people thought games might be recession-proof," stated Klotz. “We’re already being affected by the recession."
Klotz added that while the industry is still growing, it hasn't been experiencing the same rate of growth as earlier in the year due to the global economic decline.
August 2008 saw 9 percent growth, while the following month saw a 7 percent decrease. Growth was up again by 12 percent in October, but back down to 8 percent by November according to Klotz.
Klotz again: "The game industry is growing, but it has been impacted by the recession... We probably would have seen even more growth if it hadn't been impacted by the current economic climate in the US."
