Publisher EA has said that Need for Speed: SHIFT’s profiling career mode is an ”extension of the true driver’s experience,” featuring both on and offline.
This feature grants players’ ”full control” of their progression, with measurement taken from your driving Personality, Success, Profile points and Badges earned. It’s out this September.
Need for Speed: SHIFT is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios, with help from long-time series developer Black Box. ”The new driver profile feature in Need for Speed: SHIFT gives players full control of how they progress through game,” said EA’s Patrick Soderlund.
The Profile points are not dissimilar from any RPG’s experience system, meaning that ”every car passed, every corner mastered, every opponent taken out generates profile points.” As more races are undertaken a drivers profile is built, which can lead to rivalries, special challenge events and unlock vehicles or custom kit.
Need for Speed: SHIFT is being released on Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and PC this September 18th.
