Taking out zombie infected isn’t too fond a past time Down Under it seems. Australia’s OFLC has refused to put an MA15+ on the sequel title, citing it has too much violence.
The official report says Left 4 Dead 2 contains ”realistic, frenetic and unrelenting violence” inflicted upon ”living humans infected with a rabies-like virus”. One heck of a rabies case.
Because of all this they have refused to give it a certificate. It seems that melee weaponry may have been the final straw for the OFLC as they note it inflicts the most damage.
”These close in attacks cause copious amounts of blood spray and splatter, decapitations and limb dismemberment as well as locational damage where contact is made to the enemy which may reveal skeletal bits and gore,” it read. Grab the PDF here.
Gun-toting isn’t much liked either: ”Projectile shots to infected humans can cause abdominal wounds which can reveal innards or even cause intestines to spill from the wounds.”
EA Australia have said they are ”still working through the submission process with OFLC and want to explore all opportunities before making any comment,” reports IGN.
As it stands with all the copious blood and intestinal spillage, Left 4 Dead 2 is Aussie banned. Check out the gameplay below and decide for yourself. Would you ban hammer it?
