Peter Moore, ex-Xbox man, has said the corporate giant won’t be planning to ”replicate” Nintendo’s success with the Wiimote, but to surpass its functionality.
EA Sports boss Moore adds Sony is ”probably” investing in the same direction. Both companies have been rumoured to be working on motion controllers for quite some time now.
”I think that, knowing Microsoft in particular obviously, is that they are constantly thinking three to five years ahead of where consumer behaviour’s going to be,” Moore told GameTrailers, ”how do people want to interact with their games, and are probably thinking about - not how do we replicate, you know, motion control, but how do we go one step further?”
”So, to your point, I think they’re doing that and I think Sony are probably the same,” concluded Moore, when asked about motion controllers.
Sony has been linked with a break-apart motion controller that they have down in the labs, though technically speaking the PS3 already employs some degree of motion control in the SIXAXIS and DualShock 3 gamepads.
