Publisher Konami has announced the revival of Sparkster in Rocket Knight, a 16-bit SEGA Megadrive classic, and they’ll be sprucing up the 2D-scroller for Xbox 360 and PS3.
This 2.5D platformer will be debuting next year on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. It’s got wall ricocheting, rocket drilling, burst projectiles from a sword… everything we need.
”Famed for its fast platform-based gameplay and cartoon visuals, Rocket Knight will debut on next generation consoles fifteen years after its inception with updated graphics and alluring new environments,” say Konami in their press release.
”Konami’s classic 2D action platform titles have a legacy of being well received and enjoyed by gamers worldwide,” said Konami Europe’s Martin Schneider.
”So it was only natural that we bring Sparkster, our favorite opossum hero, to the next generation consoles with a combination of elevated graphics, all new environments and of course the signature rocket action gameplay.” Anything reviving Megadrive classics is great.
