Diablo 4’s season 12 release date brings a new serving of content for Blizzard’s hack and slash RPG, giving us more reasons to hop back in and level new characters while pursuing powerful loot between the Season of Slaughter’s start and end dates.
After Season 11 altered tempering while making enemies more deadly, Blizzard is giving us a go at transforming into the Butcher himself and seeking gory retribution in season 12.
Diablo 4 Season 12 Start and End Dates
After its associated update made it to the PTR in early February, Blizzard has officially announced that Diablo 4’s Season 12 release date is locked in to March 11, 2026.
- Diablo 4 Season 12 start date: March 11, 2026
- Diablo 4 Season 12 end date: April 2026
The original plan for the ARPG involved quarterly seasons, which should have normally seen Diablo 4’s Season 12 end date occurring sometime during June 2026.
That, however, will likely not be the case this time around, as Blizzard described it as “a more focused, streamlined season that supports our broader roadmap toward launch of The Lord of Hatred expansion on April 28, while still delivering a fresh, rewarding and fun experience for players.”
In the livestream detailing its additions, the developer described it as a “shorter season,” so it is looking like the Season of Slaughter’s end date is slated to occur at some point in April, before the expansion goes live.
Diablo 4 Season 12 Content - The Butcher, Killstreak, Bloodied Items, and More
In terms of content, Diablo 4’s Season of Slaughter introduces a seasonal questline that, when pursued, allows us to transform into The Butcher, one of the franchise’s most iconic enemies.
He comes with his own set of skills and can be transformed into both in the open world and inside Slaughterhouses, a new activity that “keeps you as the Butcher for the entire run.”
Diablo 4’s Season 12 sees the reintroduction of the killstreak system, rewarding obliterating foes in quick succession. Spread across five tiers, it rewards experience and seasonal reputation based on the total number of monsters slain.
The higher the tier reached, the bigger the bonus received at the end. Dying while a killstreak is active, however, ends it without offering any rewards.
Bloodied items synergize with killstreaks, having affixes that scale off our current killstreak tier.
Bloodied sigils then allow us to up the challenge in activities like Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and Lair Bosses, by having The Butcher endlessly hunt us. Activating them guarantees bloodied item drops.
In addition, a few new unique items are also on the way in what is, so far, shaping up to be a leaner season.
This is what you need to know about Diablo 4’s Season 12, its start and end dates, and the content it introduces to the action-RPG.
