Running from June to August end, Xbox Live Arcade enjoyed a Summer of Arcade promotion which has helped boost digital sales for the platform 200 percent they say.
Titles like Trials HD, Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and Shadow Complex were included in the festivities and all broke records, becoming three of the top five XBLA sellers.
"It’s clear that we’ve had an incredibly successful summer, and the Xbox Live community loves the innovative gaming experiences we deliver," said Xbox Live's Scott Austin.
"We are the leader in digitally distributed games, have the best partners in the industry and work closely with them to offer the best in downloadable content and entertainment."
Another notable big seller was EA and DICE's Battlefield 1943 which has become one of the hottest selling titles over the summer. Microsoft also note that the 1 Vs 100 beta was grabbed over three million times during its 13 week stint on Xbox Live.
