Kazuo Hirai of SCE revealed during a chat at GamesCom that their PlayStation 3 motion tech will be releasing sometime next year during spring, and pledge launch software.
The motion controller is a huge deal for Sony, and they say it’s got ”true 1:1 tracking” and ”true 3D pointing” when combined with the PlayStation Eye camera. Game info to spill at TGS.
”We are slating it for spring of next year,” Sony boss Hirai told The Times, during GamesCom.
”One of the things is that we just don’t want to put out the controller. We need a great software that supports the controller at launch. It’s something that we’ve been working on for the longest time.” Sony will be more forthcoming with launch software at the Tokyo Game Show.
Microsoft also plans to unleash their motion tech sometime during 2010, codenamed Project Natal, and is rumoured to be working a new SKU with possible integration. One thing is for sure, the big platform holders plan to have next year as the year of motion.
