With the release of Project Natal expected late next year, Microsoft and its partners have time to show off what that tech can do. The Tokyo Game Show has done a little of this.
Unfortunately for gamers hoping to have some of their back catalogue of games brought up to code for Natal, you’ll likely be disappointed. It’s not a simple title update, but huge code revisions.
”When I asked Microsoft Games’ Kudo Tsunoda if it would be possible to “patch” existing games to work with Natal, his answer was clear – it’s not likely. While Microsoft was able engineer other publisher’s titles to work with the hardware, a significant amount of code had to be altered,” reports Destructoid.
Sony have already shown off their PS3 motion wand with Resident Evil 5, but a re-release is planned for when it goes on sale in spring 2010. A fully compatible edition is in the works at Capcom, though patches are scheduled for LittleBigPlanet and others.
No sorry, you won’t be flailing your arms to fight crime in Crackdown it seems. sobs
