The studio was about to collapse and then Crytek snapped them up in ‘09. The same dev who was on the MMO is with the new Crytek UK team now.
”Designing, testing and implementing as part of the development team the systems infrastructure for an MMO online game,” reads James Dennett’s LinkedIn profile for when he was a Senior Systems Administrator at Free Radical Design.
Now Dennett is a Senior IT Manager at Crytek’s new UK digs. It was revealed that before the British studio went bust they were developing Star Wars: Battlefront III, of which an internal alpha stage video leaked onto the Internet.
Tragically this highly ambitious game, which looked totally badass, was canned. LucasArts are believed to be working on a new Battlefront game somewhere out there. As for what the Free Radical MMO could have been… anything really.
