Developer Relic has been busy with Company of Heroes Online and THQ has decided it’s free-to-play. Singleplayer is given away freely too.
“In the past, our multiplayer experience was a quick game session that was over as soon as the match was over,” said senior producer Tim Holman at Relic, reports VG247.
”With this game, you get an extended experience over time.” You choose a commander tree when beginning your online Company of Heroes career, which is like choosing a class from a MMORPG. You character and army grow more powerful overtime.
You can also get hold of hero units which are better than their stock counterparts. You either get them randomly given to you or through microtransaction from the in-game store.
Company of Heroes Online already operates free-to-play versions in China and South Korea. No date has been issued for the launch in the US. Does this interest you?
