The studio don't want a "simple conversion" from Windows to PS3 so they'll take more time. The dev team has been restructured among the higher ups.
"Regarding the PlayStation 3, it is not our wish to release a simple conversion of the Windows version in its current state, but rather an update that includes all the improvements we have planned,” said Square Enix president Yoichi Wada.
"For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of the PlayStation 3 version beyond the originally announced date of March 2011.” The PC version hit a little while back but has been given extended trial periods - it's just got 90 more days.
The core team developing the FFXIV MMO has been reshuffled a bit with Naoki Yoshida assuming the role of director and producer from Hiromichi Tanaka and Nobuaki Komoto respectively, with Komoto-san being reassigned as lead game designer.
