When making games they don’t use Xbox Live but Partnernet, a dev-only network. Don’t get tricked by these posers, warns Treyarch. A scam?
”Just want to clear something up real quick. I got word that someone was contacting people as DJVahn on Live. This is not me,” warned Treyarch’s David ‘Vahn’ Vonderhaar.
”When you are in development of the game, you are not using Xbox Live. You are using the development version of it. Think of it like a copy of the Xbox Live that only developers use. It’s called “Partnernet.””
”On Partnernet, we can make up as many gamertags as we want, as long as they are not taken.” On occasion us press types are given access to Partnernet to run a preview build or even to review, but the public is kept out of the tree house.
”If you get contacted by any of these people, it’s not us,” added Vonderhaar. ”We’ve contacted our account rep at Microsoft and he is looking into it. Thanks.”
