The ITV Player and 4oD services will be arriving this week on PlayStation Network. Sony predicts they’ll see a 10 percent rise in viewers thanks to PS3.
”It is about changing people’s attitudes to the PS3 as a platform to view it as a much broader entertainment device,” said UK PlayStation marketing director, Alan Duncan. The corporate giant says about 80 percent on the UK’s 4 million PS3s have broadband.
”As awareness of ITV Player grows, so will consumption of ITV’s content on demand,” said ITV.com’s managing director, Robin Pembroke. The BBC iPlayer has enjoyed great success on PlayStation 3 and now the rivals want in.
Sony will be using email, blogs and direct marketing through the PS3 to spread awareness of the new digital on-demand content for UK PS3 users. ”There is a compelling story to tell about the PS3 that goes far beyond gaming,” added Duncan.
