Speaking at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, loveable Microsoft exec Don Mattrick (he has this cheeky grin about him that’s just a little bit awesome) mentioned that anyone wanting to buy a Kinect in time for Christmas should place an order ”by the end of this week” or risk disappointment.
I was about to ask why Mattrick would be touting the Kinect at a conference about, well, The Internet, but it appears he was speaking during a gaming specific panel. With none other than Bobby (Robert) Kotick, dontcha know.
Mattrick went on to claim that he wasn’t just cynically trying to spike sales with his prediction. Scare-mongering or not, Kinect did sell over 1 million units in its first 10 days, and is generally considered to be doing well on all fronts.
You know what they say, better safe than sorry, right? You can read our impressions on the Kinect hardware itself here.
