Ancel wishes to still pursue Ubi IP but more ‘classical’ 2D games instead, which throws a major spanner in the works for Beyond Good & Evil 2.
Yes this is all rather sad news for the Beyond Good & Evil series which has already suffered eerie silence from Ubisoft for quite some time. They swear it’s all still in production but Ancel’s apparent departure is sure to give fans an uneasy feeling.
According to a NeoGAF translation, WootGaming got the scope on Ancel’s movements at Ubi and also claim another ‘star developer’ will join him in forming a new studio. It’s likely this could pause Beyond Good & Evil 2 again and may even lead to cancellation.
This is bitter sweet news indeed when we’re so close to E3…
