A new report is suggesting that the purchase of in-game items from free-to-play online titles is on the rise.
This new study, from DFC Intelligence and in-game item seller Live Gamer, revealed that 88 percent of respondents to their survey said that they had purchased some kind of digital download item. 60 percent said they have bought an in-game item that was not a full game.
DFC believes that these kind of transactions generated $800 million in 2009 in the US and Europe, with that number expecting to grow to $3 billion by 2015.
