The Avalanche team "lives and breathes" their island sandboxer, and wouldn't want other developers handling it as it "would spoil" the IP.
Sundberg told Develop that fans "shouldn’t be surprised" to hear Avalanche unveiling a Just Cause 3 in the future. “I think there are a lot of connections" with the studio and the IP, he said, “and so we hope there’s still a future in it, and that future to live as long as us.”
"We are absolutely interested in working with the Just Cause IP again,” he stated. “I personally wrote the original pitch for the game in early 2003, so it’s something that means a lot for me and for the people in this studio." It got top spot in the UK sales chart.
“The studio lives and breathes the Just Cause franchise, and handing that over to another developer would spoil it. No one has the attachment to this IP as we do.” Getting a number one has been a big ego boost for the development team, said Sundberg.
"As a studio we have proven that we can deliver what we actually say we can. Also, for us it means a lot to succeed in this way, especially in terms of internal motivation with the staff, and the future of the whole studio." Avalanche plan DLC for Just Cause 2.
The game is out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Check out the time we had on the fabulous South-East Asian island of Panau in our Just Cause 2 review.
