It began after a disabled gamer complained EA doesn't let you customise controls in Dead Space 2. He plays Fallout: New Vegas without use of his hands.
Admittedly this has likely rekindled the annoyance that studios don't let gamers customise controls how they want any way across platforms. Amazingly disabled gamer Gareth uses a mouse and its left and right mouse buttons with his chin to play.
Unfortunately he couldn't even do that with Dead Space 2. "There's no way to have the walk forward on a mouse button," posted Gareth on the overclockers.co.uk forums. "It makes me so mad that game companies don't make their games fully custom controls."
"If they can have the fire assigned to a mouse button, surely they could of assigned to a mouse button. So now I can't play this game and I wasted £25."
His forum thread got so much attention that it sprung an online petition stating that signatories "endorse the Video Game Custom Button Remapping Petition to Video Game Console Manufactures & Video Game Developers." It stands at 22,458.
Neither EA nor developer Visceral Games have commented so far.
