Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be getting the most mature rating in Japan, CERO Z, despite some minor content cuts. The CERO Z rating is the Japanese equivalent of the ESRB's Adults Only rating, meaning the game is completely offlimits to players under 18.
The edits include one cutscene a character’s organs are exposed and another where a sexual object was removed from one of the game’s fields. Both of these cuts were made because display of this material is prohibited in Japan.
The Adults Only rating in Japan isn't the kiss of death that it is in the United States however, where getting slapped with an AO rating will mean no retailers will even stock it. Games that were CERO Z in Japan include titles like BioShock 2, God of War III, Red Dead Redemption, Call of Duty: Black Ops, L.A. Noire, and Alice: Madness Returns.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be released September 8 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
