Microsoft will be revamping Xbox.com in concert with the upcoming Fall Dashboard Update, according to CNet, and the main focus of the revamp will be to stress social networking and functionality between the site and the Xbox 360.
The biggest change will be the removal of the “My Xbox” tab on the Xbox.com page and replacing it with a new “Social” tab. The Social tab will allow people to not only see what their friends are playing, but to also place a Beacon, which will allow players to mark games that they’d like to play with friends, either immediately, or at a specific time. It’s a neat feature that allows players to tell friends without even having to message them that the player will be there at a certain time ready to play a certain game.
The Social page will also be using Microsoft’s Metro interface, which most Windows 7 Phone users are acquainted with. The top of the page will feature Metro-based tiles with links to various things like Xbox Live Events, Marketplace content and upcoming game information. The left side of the screen while have social tiles that tell the player how many friends are online, unread messages, and so on.
Positioned under the Avatar are account maintenance items, such as the download queue, code redemption, profile editing and so on.
According to Microsoft, the new features will appear in the next few days, while the Fall Dashboard Update will be going live sometime at the end of November.
