Set during the final years of the Golden Age of Piracy, publisher Hooded Horse and developer Limbic Entertainment’s upcoming project trades building on flat land for setting up our corsair settlement on cliff faces and hilltops. Its piratey flavor certainly isn’t the only thing that sets it apart from its peers.

Corsair Cove doesn’t yet have an exact release date, but is currently expected to launch at some point in 2026.

Corsair Cove Gameplay
Corsair Cove’s building puts an interesting spin on city building, as we raise our settlement from scratch on uneven terrain, seeing it stretching “across great lengths and heights.”
The ability to build anywhere paves the way for creating unique pirate fortresses. We’ll need to gather raw materials, turn them into goods desired by our island’s inhabitants, then ensure they arrive at the proper distribution hubs.
A “complex systems of bridges, ziplines, and contraptions of all kinds” help “efficiently move goods from place to place,” but the farther our settlement stretches, the more challenging it is to make sure goods reach their targets in time.
If the lowly pirates forming the backbone of our forces have relatively few needs, building a proper armada with powerful ships requires recruiting specialists whose tastes and needs are more refined.
The ships we build allow us to venture across the seas, engaging with a variety of different events whose outcomes are “determined by the mettle of your crew, and the resources you’re willing to sacrifice.” They’re also vital in defending against the Crown’s efforts to end piracy in turn-based battles “where the choice of ship, crew, and captain, combined with your tactical prowess, determines the victor.”
Corsair Cove Story
It’s currently unclear whether or not Corsair Cove will feature a dedicated story mode. What’s certain is that its piratey adventures are set during the final stretch of the Golden Age of Piracy.
With the Crown actively working to dismantle piracy, we need to both ensure our settlement’s survival and fight back.
