Since launch the service has had nothing but trouble, with Activision recently giving premium members an extra 30 days subscription free. Lag and connection issues are rife.
The server status for Elite is currently set to 'intermittent' with developer Beachhead said to be working "around the clock" to solve the numerous hiccups. 'Founders' will be jumped ahead.
Premium subscribers who are designated 'Founders' will be getting priority access to Elite's services, announced Activision who also gave 30 days extra time free to all paying users. It's meant to serve as the central hub for all Call of Duty social networking, which includes bragging gamer stats and also launching multiplayer with friends.
"The launch of MW3 had been huge and we knew it would be huge," said Activision's Daniel Suarez last week.
"It just translated into a tremendous amount of traffic to Elite. And we anticipated it to be big, it just turned out to be even bigger than that. The high demand from the console application and registration on the website from the PC really crippled the registration and login process which then translated into the backend servers being slammed."
"So we've been working around the clock to alleviate access into the system and we've had a large number of people now able to register. We've resolved that piece of it and now we're actually working on getting the service back up and running to a point where people can then enjoy it," he continued.
All multiplayer matches going on now are having their statistics saved and they'll be uploaded safely at a later point for users to view, assured Activision. No timetable has been released for Elite to become 'stabilised'.
