Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV servers to conserve power will be going back online this Friday at 8pm Tokyo time.
According to Square Enix, the servers accounted for 11.6 percent of their power consumption in Tokyo. In the days since the server shutdown, Square has conversed 10 percent of their power by shutting off air conditioning and reducing lighting, which will allow them to restore the MMO servers and get the games up and running again.
In a statement, Square apologized to gamers: "We offer our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the temporary suspension of these services, and thank you for your understanding. We at the Square Enix group are trying to act in a proactive manner in order to provide support towards the relief and restoration efforts in the face of this unprecedented disaster while providing reliable service to our customers, and we thank you for your understanding and support.”
Subscription fees have been waived for a month as recompense.
