The long, tortured development cycle of Team Ico’s The Last Guardian may have come to a sorry end, as Sony has abandoned the US trademark. The game had been originally targeted for the 2011 holiday season.
On the 2nd August, the trademark updated, with the videogame registration for The Last Guardian now updated to ”ABANDONED - NO STATEMENT OF USE FILED.”
Back in December 2011, US retailers delisted The Last Guardian, as producers jumped ship from the project. In a last ditch effort to save the game, UK and US developers were brought in to help work on it.
It seems that all the effort has been futile. Stay tuned.
