Mojang has announced that the Xbox Live Arcade version of Minecraft, which represents the final title in Microsoft Studios Presents: Arcade NEXT program has shattered the record for the fastest selling Xbox Live Arcade game in the system's history.
This breaks the record set by fellow Arcade NEXT title Trials Evolution a mere three weeks ago.
Minecraft was developed by 4J Studios with backing by Mojang and Microsoft Studios. The game features new and modified gameplay mechanics as a unique crafting menu, game tutorials, and split-screen multiplayer as well as online multiplayer for up to eight players over Xbox Live.
This isn't the only game of its ilk setting records on Xbox Live, as FortressCraft set the sales record for Xbox Live Indie Game Marketplace.
Minecraft XBLA has received raves reviews, including an 8.0/10 score from Strategy Informer's review.
