Dead Island: Riptide not a remake, price confirmed

Deep Silver’s PR manager Abrey Norris has quashed rumors that Dead Island: Riptide, which was announced on the first day of E3 2012, was a remake of the original game, stating that Riptide will be a new experience.

According to Norris, “It is a new game. Not a remake,” and would be more akin to Dead Rising: Off the Record, which was a whole game spinoff of the original.

Norris also confirmed the game’s $49.99 USD price tag, which was listed on several online retailers. The PR manager stated “it’s the end of a console cycle- we think this price makes a lot more sense given that.”

Dead Island: Riptide is due to be released this Summer on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
