So far they’ve not paid back $1.125 million which was due May 1st. Fox says the studio ”know what they’re doing” and they’re ”a great company that’s good for Rhode Island.”
The state of Rhode Island has loaned the development studio $75 million and so presumably aren’t being sought to help any further. The state is scheduling some hard talks with the studio.
Gordon Fox is however having no regrets over getting 38 Studios and Curt Shilling his loan program from Rhode Island’s coffers. ”He seems to have a lot of people around him that seem to know what they’re doing and from what I’ve been seeing, they’re a great company that’s good for Rhode Island,” said the house speaker.
38 Studios was previously located in Massachusetts. It now employs around 379 full time developers, as well as contractors and interns. The studio’s first ever release was Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, which is set to pave the way for an MMO, codenamed Copernicus. Will the MMO get shelved for more single player RPG to build up their IP?
