After studio closure, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 developers turn to multiplayer shooters to survive

After the closure of GSC Game World, the team has moved on to form a new studio: Vostok Games. Although the group’s next game follows S.T.A.L.K.E.R.’s post-apocalyptic setting, the team are focusing on multiplayer-based titles to stay afloat.

The new title is named Survarium, and is a free-to-play shooter. In an interview with Gamasutra, project manager Ruslan Didenko had this to say:

”It was a tough decision to make. After the shutdown of GSC, our team had a choice: whether to scatter around other companies or stick together and try to attract funding to keep the development going.”

Didenko continued, ”What we realized is that while we had been preoccupied with delivering single player titles one by one, the world changed, and we have to change too. Therefore, we decided to take a dramatic step and switch to online.”
