In a move that seems inspired by the Skylanders: Spyro's Adventures figurine craze, Mass Effect 3 will have its own figurines released, and they will come with exclusive DLC.
One of the figurines, a 6.6" tall Miranda figurine, has its own page on the official BioWare Store, and features what the product description calls "a downloadable content pack for Mass Effect 3 multi-player. It is slightly randomized during the registration and could include powerful new weapons and new characters. The pack could also include character boosters, weapon modifications, and weapon upgrades to make your multi-player squad stronger." The overuse of the word "could" seems to indicate that the DLC that will come with said figurine has not been established yet.
The figurines are being offered by Big Fish Games, and there will be reportedly four series of figurines, with the first two series packs having been revealed. The Series One pack includes Tali, Thane, Grunt and Shepard, while Series Two features Miranda, Mordin, Legion and Garrus.
Collecting the figurines can be expensive, however. One will cost $17.99 USD, while a Series pack costs $67.99 USD. If one wanted to "catch 'em all" Pokemon-style, it will apparently cost $271.96 USD altogether. This offer seems only to be valid in North America for the time being, however.
Mass Effect 3 will be released in March 2012 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
