A few months ago, Zipper Interactive, best known for developing the S.O.C.O.M. series, was shuttered by Sony Computer Entertainment. While the studio is shut down, Sony promises that it isn’t the end of S.O.C.O.M.
According to Sony president Shuhei Yoshida, “It’s not done. We never definitely retire any franchise. It’s sometimes great to have a fresh look at the classics that we have.”
Yoshida went on to say, “We are launching a new Sly Cooper game this year after so many years. Never say never. I feel sorry for people who are longtime SOCOM fans, and there are many people who still play SOCOM 1 and SOCOM 2, especially those seem to be their favorites.”
It’ll be interesting to see who Sony tags to develop the next S.O.C.O.M., which in recent years has been a disaster critically and sales-wise.
