Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts’ space combat sim Star Citizen continues to mount incredible numbers in its funding, having now passed the $15M mark, which will unlock a new ship class and a printed manual.
According to the developer’s blog post, ”The $15 million unlock adds another flyable ship class to the game, the oft-discussed escort carrier. Every backer will also get a free digital 42-page Upgrade Handbook manual with their game which goes through the process of customizing and overclocking ship systems! We’re excited about putting this one together, since it goes right to the heart of what’s going to make Star Citizen unique.”
The $16M stretch goal will feature an Arena mode, which is a little bit of a misnomer. It could better be considered a galaxy-sized combat tournament. Players will also get a sidearm to discourage pirates when they board ships. The $17M goal will add a battlecruiser and a ship package upgrader for certain level backers.
