They plan on projects that will ”truly capture the essence, tone and exciting elements” of the Ninja Turtles. The series recently returned to TV, with it premiering in October for the UK.
The most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games were released back in 2009 for the likes of Nintendo Wii, PS2, XBLA, PSN and Nintendo DS.
”Activision is a leader in the gaming industry and we are honored to have them as the global video game partner for our new hit series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” said Sherice Torres of Nickelodeon Consumer Products. ”We are confident that these upcoming games will take gamers through interactive environments and action-packed adventures that truly capture the essence, tone and exciting elements of the Turtles.”
”The fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are unique in that they span generations and are very passionate,” said Kurt Niederloh, VP of Activision Publishing Minneapolis, Inc. ”We respect this passion and look forward to working with Nickelodeon to create games that embody the spirit of the property.”
The first of three titles in the works will be released this summer. The developer behind the project and what platforms they target remain unknown. Perhaps E3 will shed some light on the half shell heroes?
