The team have also included ”a lot of the underpinnings” for interplanetary war, with most on the back-end. The planet editor’s ”first iteration” is also now out for backers.
Linux and Mac versions of Planetary Annihilation are also stable, says Uber, alongside 32 and 64 bit Windows. They’ve been recently ”setting the stage” for orbital units.
”It’s the middle of July, and the Alpha is going strong. We released a new build today that released a lot of the underpinnings that will be needed for interplanetary war, much of which is on the back-end. More visible are the very early stages of an AI!” read the latest Kickstarter update.
”Great news for people who’d like to play in sandbox mode but with an opponent that does a bit more than just sit there. We also released the first iteration of the planet editor for the public. It’s still got a ways to go, but already shows the incredible potential, and diversity, of the system!”
The alpha for Planetary Annihilation is available to purchase now at a high price, which reflects the pledges made by Kickstarter backers to receive alpha access as a reward for their contributions.
”We also have Linux and Mac builds running and stable now, along with Windows 64 bit and 32 bit versions.”
”A number of different linux distros have been tested, and the community reports that Mac OS/X 10.7 and 10.8 are playing the latest builds well. That said, there is still a lot of optimization, feature work, and bug fixing to do, not just in alpha, but through beta as well for all the supported platforms,” they continued.
It’ll soon be time to touch the stars and conquer them. ”Much of the work done over the past few weeks is setting the stage for not only orbital units, but to allow interaction between planets. Once we have those in place, we can start to build out the more complex system interactions, like moving large celestial bodies. Say, for instance, asteroids!”
