Some gamers have assumed that the upcoming open world title Watch Dogs, which is being released on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox 720, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Wii U, was running on the Assassin’s Creed 3 engine.
However, this is not true, as UbiSoft’s Sebastien Viard has buried that rumor, stating on Twitter that the game was running on a brand-new engine.
In the tweet, he stated, ”Watch Dogs uses a brand new engine called Disrupt, developed specifically for the game at Ubisoft Montreal. It’s not Assassin’s Creed engine.”
Watch Dogs is due to be released next year.
