DICE officially revealed Battlefield 4 in San Francisco last night.
Predictably, the game is set to be the best looking shooter we've ever witnessed. The Frostbite 3 engine is set to deliver a 'playground of destruction' unlike anything produced before.
A gameplay demo was shown on site, highlighting a section where the player is trapped in a sinking car; the only way out is to shoot a window in order to escape.
"We are so humbled and proud to debut Battlefield 4 on a global stage with simultaneous events in San Francisco and Stockholm. To be this early in development, and to already be so polished is a huge achievement for the DICE team and reflection of their passion and commitment to driving the franchise forward. Today's demo was just the beginning - we have so much more in store," said Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President at EA.
It's worth noting Battlefield 4 will appear on PS4, Xbox 720, current consoles and PC. No sign of a Wii U version suggests Nintendo favouring users are set to miss out.
