While the glorious XCOM: Enemy Unknown brought modern polish to the venerable alien-hunting franchise, indie title Xenonauts is hoping to recreate the 2D isometric heyday of the alien-hunting strategy series.
Developer Goldhawk Interactive has announced that the final 1.0 version of the game is complete and available to the public, and the title will finally be leaving Steam Early Access sometime in the next two weeks. There's a tentative release date of June 16, but that might yet change.
"We have now released Xenonauts V1.0 on the Stable branch," write the team in a Steam page update, "which marks the end of formal development for Xenonauts. This is effectively the final version of the game, minus any stability patches that may be required."
While the current Early Access version is technically the full package, the team clarify that they're still working on eliminating any bugs before the full version of the game is released on Steam proper. "The choice is therefore up to you whether you want to play the "final" version of the game now or whether you'd prefer to wait a couple of weeks to make sure any stability kinks have been ironed out."
You can find out more about the game on its Steam store page. The Early Access version will currently cost you £14.99.
